In 1956 Vy Russell, Sue Dwiggins and the fabulous Lon Chaney, Jr. set out to make an edge of your seat sci-fi monster masterpiece called “The Indestructible Man.” The film’s basic premise was that scientific experiments reanimate an executed criminal and make him invincible, prompting him to seek revenge on his ex-cohorts. You know, it’s the usual box office treat. It was part horror, part thriller.
Little did those creative geniuses know, they would also create a heartwarming love story for the ages. We’re a sucker classic romance. You know, the kind of romance that offers you no choice and ruins your life? We mean, if you are a woman, a silly, stupid woman, what could be better than having your decisions made for you and to be forced into a relationship? Everybody loves a happy ending.
