Welcome to Milestone Monday. Milestone Monday is a weekly post on Comedy.com’s Retro Channel. Each week we look back at a big moment in the lives of people of yesteryear (and by yesteryear, today we mean the 1990s).
Nothing starts your week of right like a little hit of humiliation!
The year was 1990. Carol and Norman had the best of intentions. They just wanted to get married, have a rockin’ reception and live happily ever after. Unfortunately, nobody gave them this important advice: Don’t let the drunkest guy at the wedding grab the video mic. He will sing a sloppy medley and ramble about the history of your name. Then things will get really awkward.
“Ok. Look. He’s a black man, I’m a white man, so you can edit this out, I don’t care but he’s still the greatest.”
Just when you think things can’t get any worse, a country club version of Michael Scott (the second drunkest guy at the wedding) will grab the mic and throw down some totally rad, timeless pop culture references. And then proceed to do some Jazz scatting.
Carol and Norman, congratulations. Congrats on your wedding, sure, but also congrats on giving us a truly fabulous booze-soaked ’90s artifact. Shoobedoobedoobe Bapbap Bayyyeeee!
